What’s News This Week
January was a two-faced month, jangling like jester’s bells, crackling like snow crust, pure as any beginning, grim as an old man, mysteriously familiar yet unknown, like a word one can almost but not quite define.”
― Patricia Highsmith, The Price of Salt
Welcome Emma Squire and Erica Morris
Erica Morris
Erica Morris is joining Special Collections and Archives as the Archivist for Military History. We are excited for Erica to join us on January 2, 2026, in this brand new, donor funded role.
Erica comes to Clemson with a depth of experience and enthusiasm that will make her a wonderful addition to SC&A and the Libraries. She received her MLS from Indiana University, Bloomington, specializing in archives and records management. Erica most recently worked as the Archivist/Librarian at the Olivia Raney History Library, Wake County Public Libraries in Raleigh, NC. In her new role at Clemson, Erica will work with, and expand, our military collections, support the Veterans’ Oral History Project, and help us continue to document Clemson’s long and proud military heritage.
Emma Squire
Dr. Emma Squire is joining Special Collections and Archives as the Shepard Family Archivist for Neurodiversity. We are excited for Emma to join us in January 2, 2026, in this brand new, donor funded role.
Emma holds an MA in Theatre with an emphasis on history and she recently received her PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. Emma’s most recent position was as an archivist at the Kalaupapa National Historical Park in Moloka’i, Hawai’i. This remotely situated role involved arranging, describing, and preserving archival collections that documented the administration, cultural resources, and natural resources of the park. Emma also held archival roles at the National Park Service History Collection in the Harpers Ferry Center in West Virginia as well as in Archives and Special Collections at the University of Pittsburgh. In this new role, she will develop a nationally recognized neurodiversity archive emphasizing the history and impact of Clemson LIFE and other such programs and documenting those whose accomplishments warrant celebration.

We are proud to recognize and celebrate the dedicated service of our colleagues who have reached milestones in their Clemson University Libraries careers.
Please note that these announcements going forward reflect Libraries service time only. The University formally acknowledges total state service through the distribution of pins and certificates. Individuals in the South Carolina Retirement System (SCRS) who have questions about their service time toward retirement should reference their Member Access account. Those enrolled in an Optional Retirement Program (ORP) should consult their selected vendor for retirement information.
Please be aware that calculating total University service time involves individualized research and may include factors such as temporary versus full-time status, student employment, and other considerations. For these reasons, we are focusing our recognition on Libraries-specific service time.
Thank you so much for all the talent and expertise that you bring to the Libraries! We appreciate all you do!
