Reappointment Committee

Group Purpose

In order to provide for broader-based peer evaluation, there shall be a library faculty Reappointment Committee (RC) to advise the Chair or Dean, as appropriate, on all reappointments.

Membership

The RC shall consist of five members of the Library Faculty, plus an alternate. Due to the rotation schedule of members, two alternates occur every three years. All members have discussion and voting rights. The terms of office are on a rotating basis and shall be three years for four members of the RC and one year for one member and for the alternate(s). The alternate(s) shall be the immediate past three-year term member(s) of the RC and shall serve when a member of the Committee must be absent for a specific review.

Committee members shall be elected by a secret ballot in the spring of each year with service beginning immediately thereafter. Committee members shall not succeed themselves regardless of term length but may be elected to serve any number of times. The committee will elect its own chair; the chair needs to have at least one full year of experience on the Committee in the current term.
