Charge

To ensure consistency and continuity in messaging and branding across all Libraries’ units and across all communications platforms, including web, email, social media and other digital communication, and print materials. To also ensure the ongoing evolution and viability of the Libraries’ website while taking into consideration the varied needs of different audiences, including students, faculty, staff and community patrons, as well as Libraries faculty and staff.

Goals:

  • Refresh and update the Libraries’ Communications Toolkit
  • Develop branding and social media guidelines for the Libraries
    • Review social media accounts of peer libraries (PASCAL and other R1s)
    • Conduct focus groups or surveys with users about effectiveness of branding and social media
    • Work with University social media team to ensure compliance with University guidelines and policies
  • Conduct an annual review and analysis of the Libraries home page and primary web pages
    • Review other R1 library websites
    • Solicit feedback from Libraries employees about potential changes/updates
    • Conduct usability studies or surveys
  • Serve as a sounding board for Director of Marketing and Communications and Digital Experience Manager on specific issues as needed.

Membership:

Team will be co-chaired by the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Digital Experience Manager, with representatives from user services, teaching and learning, and Special Collections and Archives. Representatives from each area will serve a 2-year term. Community engagement coordinator and marketing and outreach coordinator will serve as ex-officios.
