Within the Libraries new organizational structure, there needs to be a way for directors and managers responsible for library services to connect, communicate, and collaborate on issues that impact our patrons and employees. We are recommending a new Public Services Cross-Functional Team to replace the Public Services Council that served the Libraries from 2018 – 2022. The PSXFT will report to the Associate Dean for Teaching, Learning, & Research.

Goals:

• Share information about service areas so that public service managers know what’s going on across all of our locations. Provide a communication channel for inclement weather decisions, emergencies, and other unexpected occurrences.
• Make informed recommendations and decisions about services across all Libraries locations using assessment tools, evaluation, observation, and data.
• Discuss and communicate plans, policies, and service priorities (for example: hours, signage, study zones, security issues).
• Recommend new and revised policies for issues and procedures that have an impact on library services and users at all locations (for example: circulation policies, study rooms, public address system, challenged materials, accessibility, code of conduct).
• Explore and recommend library service innovations, strategies, technologies, and trends that may address the needs of library users (for example: self-check).
• Maintain lines of communication with building partners about hours and services.
